How Do You Clean A Washing Machine Of Soap Scum?

0

Washing machines, like all other household appliances, need regular care and maintenance to keep them running their best. Although it is counter intuitive, a washing machine needs to be cleaned occasionally to prevent a build up of soap residue and scum. Use these tips to clean your washing machine of soap scum once a month to keep your wash, and your washer, clean. Set your washing machine to its “hot” setting and “heavy wash” setting or a similar setting meant for extremely dirty cloths. This will set it for maximum agitation. Do not add clothes. Add 3 cups of distilled white vinegar and 1/2 cup of baking soda to the hot water. Allow the machine to run through its cycle. When finished and drained of water, wipe down the inside of the machine with a clean cloth. Set the washing machine to “cold” and allow it to go through another cycle without any clothes. This should remove all the soap scum and residue from your washing machine.
