How Do You Clean A Tappan Self Cleaning Oven?

0

Tappan brand ovens (like many other brands) have a self-cleaning feature that take a lot of the work out of cleaning your oven. While in this self-cleaning mode, the ovens reach an extremely high temperature turning everything inside to ash. During self cleaning, the oven locks and cannot be opened. Tappan self-cleaning works much like the self-cleaning feature of other brands. Check the inside of your oven to make sure there is nothing in there that can ignite. Large pieces of food on the bottom of the oven as well as pans or cutting boards left inside ovens during the self-cleaning feature can catch fire and need to be removed. Turn the oven on the self-clean mode. The light will come on indicating it is in the self-cleaning mode, and the door will lock. Open the oven when the self-clean is finished. Using a dishrag that has been soaked in soapy water, wipe all the surfaces inside the oven. Rinse the dishrag and continue wiping until no traces of food remain.
