How Do You Clean A Skuttle Steam Humidifier?
Your Skuttle Steam Humidifier should be cleaned once a month to every 3 months, depending on how hard your water is, how many people live in your house and what type of climate you live in. Because the Skuttle Steam Humidifier is a complex whole-house system, it can be difficult to clean. It is possible, however, to do it yourself if you wish. Prepare the Skuttle Steam Humidifier for cleaning by unplugging the unit and the fan control. Disconnect the humidistat wires from all external screw terminals. Turn the water supply off and disconnect the overflow hose at the humidifier and the supply tubing at the float valve. Let the water in the unit cool completely before you continue. Drain the water from the humidifier. If you have Skuttle Steam Humidifier Model 60-1 or Model 60-2, turn the petcock counterclockwise and drain the water into a bucket. If you have Model F60-1 or Model F60-2, press and release the flushing timer “manual” button. Wait until the flushing stops (10 to 30 seconds)
