How Do You Clean A RV Rubber Roof?
Newer RVs often have a rubber roof instead of a metal roof. They aren’t rubber in the traditional sense, but a specially formulated rubber roofing material called EPDM. EPDM roofs can last 20 years or longer with proper care, prolonging the life of your RV as well as lowering the cost on maintenance and replacement. Over time the roof will become chalky. This is normal wear and tear that can be minimized by cleaning the RV’s rubber roof. This also will improve the overall appearance of the RV. Climb onto the roof and rinse it with clear water from a hose to remove any debris or loose dirt on the surface. Add 1/4 cup mild liquid laundry detergent to a gallon of water. Wipe the roof down thoroughly with a soft sponge, such as you would use for washing a car. Rinse the soapy water off the roof with clear water. Apply a thin coat of rubber roof protectant to the entire roof surface. Protectant is available at RV and boat centers.
