When summer is just around the corner, it is time to jump into a swimsuit and into the pool. But before the water sports begin, you have to make sure the pool’s filtration system is order. The key component in the filtration system is the pump filter. This must be inspected every week and kept clean of any contaminants. This simple cleaning process is essential for maintaining a clean, blue, perfect swimming pool all summer long. Shut off the power to the pool pump. Gently tap the flanges of the pump cover to loosen, using a rubber mallet. Manually unscrew the pump cover and inspect the inner lining. If the cover’s o-ring is cracked or torn, it will need to be replaced. Replacement parts are available at any pool supply or hardware store. Remove the pump filter.
