If your PS2 (playstation 2) is having difficulty reading a disk, you might need to clean the lens. Unfortunately, the cleaning processing for cleaning your lens will void the warranty. If you own an older version you can access the lens without voiding the warranty and opening the console. Here are some simple steps on how to clean the lens of a PS2. Unplug all the cords that are connected to your system. Carefully turn your console over. On the bottom of the console locate 4 soft square pads. Remove the square pads There should be a hard square pad under the 4 soft square pads. Remove these as well. Remove your internet adaptor if you have one. Carefully turn your unit back up the right way, holding it together. Remove the top of the playstation. At this point, be careful not to rip the silver paper that’s connected to the top and bottom parts Carefully remove the CD drive from the playstation. Use a damp swab to remove any dust or dirt. Follow up with a dry swab to dry the lens.
