How Do You Clean A Maytag Self-Cleaning Oven?
Run the self-cleaning cycle on your Maytag oven at least once a year to remove soil buildup and keep your oven operating at its best. During self-cleaning, the oven temperature rises extremely high and turns any debris or soil inside the oven into ash. You may see some flames or smoking during the process, but this is normal when your oven is quite dirty. Follow the steps below to start the self-cleaning cycle and get your oven cleaned up. Turn off the oven light and remove all pans and racks from the oven. Clean the oven and door frames with a non-abrasive cleaner. Do not clean the door gasket. Remove any excess grease or debris from the oven bottom. Close the oven door and press the “Clean” pad. Press the “More+” or the “Less-” pad. “MEd” should appear in the display. “MEd” stands for a medium amount of soil and means the oven will clean for three hours. Press “More+” twice to set the oven for heavy soil (four hours) or press “Less-” twice to set the oven for light soil (two hours).
