How Do You Clean A Marble Spice Grinder?
Marble spice grinders differ from a traditional mortar and pestle only in that the grinder has a larger head on the pestle portion of the apparatus. A spice grinder can be used for everything from crushing peppercorns to making pesto, and a marble grinder is easy to keep clean. Chefs tend to prefer marble because the material is not easily stained and it does not absorb odor. Wipe the inside of the mortar and the end of the grinding pestle with a damp sponge after grinding simple herbs and spices, such as peppercorns, cinnamon and other dry ingredients. For most dry ingredients, this is the only cleaning needed. Remove wet ingredients, such as garlic, from the grinder immediately. This will prevent the herbs and spices from drying and caking on the sides of the grinder or the pestle.
