There are ways to clean a leather jacket that are better than others. For instance, you don’t want to get it cleaned at a dry cleaners, even ones that say they clean leather. You run the chance of ruining the patina of your jacket.If you do decide to take it to a cledaners, make sure it’s one you know well or that has been recommended to you. Don’t over clean a leather jacket. One good cleaning per year is all that is nessessary. You can spot clean with mild soap and a dap cloth when it needs it. To clean your jacket, wet a sponge or cloth with a little bit of mild soap or clothing detergent and water. Wipe the jacket all over with the cloth, but don’t scrub. Rinse by wiping a damp cloth using plain water untill all of the soap residue is gone. Sponge up any excess water with a dry cloth, and hange the jacket where it can dry at room temperature.
