How Do You Clean A CD Player Lens?
In many cases skipping CDs are often due to either a defective or dirty disc. However, if your CD player is skipping or refusing to play clean and unscratched discs, the lens of the CD player is most likely dirty. The best way to completely clean the lens is to remove the CD player cover and clean it by hand. Unplug the CD player from the wall outlet. Remove the top from the CD player. This will involve locating and removing four to six Phillips head screws using an appropriately sized Phillips head screwdriver. After the top has been removed set it aside and place the screws inside the overturned top for safe keeping. Locate the CD head/lens unit inside the player. It will be a dark plastic box with a bluish glass lens. The lens is the area that needs to be cleaned. Dab a cotton swab in isopropyl alcohol and gently swirl the swab across the blue glass lens.
