When you are playing softball, you want every advantage possible. Believe it or not, just grabbing any old bat to hit with may work for some people, but the best bat for the job will maximize both bat speed and accuracy. Bat speed is key, as the faster the bat hits the ball, the more power it will impart to it. Pick the lightest, longest bat you can handle effectively. The lightest weight bat at the longest length is the most overriding factor. Longer bats have a larger sweet spot to hit the ball with which therefore means more of a chance to not only hit the ball, but drive it to different fields.
