Double paned windows are a great home upgrade for a few different reasons. They look nice, they’re energy efficient and they reduce outside noise. Adding these windows to your home will also increase the resale value of your house if you want to sell. Determine the most important reason you’re getting the windows. For example, if you want to go green and increase your energy efficiency, you’ll need to get a double paned window with low emissivity (low-e) coating on the glass. In southern states, where the summer heat can be brutal, the low-e coating should be on the outside of the inner pane to keep the heat out. In northern states, the coating is on the inside of the outer pane, to keep warmth in. See if you can find double paned windows filled with Argon.
