Your engine may not start if the ignition coil is not firing properly. Determine where the output wire of the ignition coil connects with the distributor. Disconnect it. Connect the end of the output wire to a spark plug. Connect another wire, a ground wire, to the spark plug’s threads. Disconnect the green wire from the ignition coil’s negative terminal. Connect a ground wire to the negative terminal. Switch on the ignition. Attach the ignition coil to the negative battery terminal with the ground wire that’s connected to the ignition coil’s negative terminal. Observe the spark plug for sparks. If the sparks produced are not good, then use an ohmmeter to check their voltage. Check the reading on the ohmmeter.
