How Do You Check And Add Brake Fluid?

0

Check the brake fluid when you check the other fluids in your car (once a month) or if the brake light on the dashboard goes on. Low brake fluid level may indicate a leak in your brake’s hydraulic system –a situation that requires immediate attention. Open the hood and locate the brake master cylinder. It will almost always be close to the back of the engine compartment on the driver’s side. The cap may be labeled. Clean the top of the cap with a rag to prevent dirt from entering the reservoir when you open it. Open the reservoir cap (see illustration). It may screw off or just pull off. Check the fluid level. You will see full- and low-level indicators on the side of the reservoir or inside the opening. Add brake fluid up to the full line if needed. Use a funnel to avoid spills. Put the cap back on and close the hood.
