Throughout the lifetime of your vehicle, the air conditioner may eventually begin to blow out warm air or not cool the vehicle as quickly as it once did. This is a sign that your air conditioning system needs to be recharged with coolant. A local mechanic will be able to recharge your system for you, but it’s an expensive process and time-consuming. You can chose to recharge your vehicle’s air conditioner yourself by simply purchasing a can of R134a refrigerant at an auto parts store. Allow the vehicle’s engine to cool for at least 20 minutes before you begin any work under the hood. Open the hood of the vehicle by using the hood release lever inside the vehicle. Under the hood, locate the air conditioner unit’s service fittings. Refer to your owner’s manual, if needed, for exact location. The high-side fitting can be found on the hose that runs from the compressor the condenser. The low-side fitting is located on the hose that runs from the accumulator to the compressor. Remove the re
