How Do You Change Windows Folder Icons (Vista)?
An easy way to customize your folder icons in Windows Vista. This also works for Windows XP. For those of us who are board with the plain ones. Create a folder just for your custom icons. Put it a place that most likely not to move. Because if you move the folder the link to the icon will disappear and your icon will return to default. This will make them easier to find if you like to change them a lot. If you haven’t already go download free icons of your liking. There are some links at the bottom of this page. Find the folder you would like to change. Right click on it and go to properties. Click the Customize tab at the top. Then the change icon button. This will bring up a window with all the default icons in your system. So click the browse button and go to the location of the folder you created to house your custom icons. This is what the .ico or icon files should look like. Choose your icon and click OK You should see the icon you chose in the window now. So hit OK. Then hit App
