How Do You Change The Oil On A Yamaha V Star Classic?
Yamaha motorcycles introduced the V Star Classic 1100 in 2000 following on the heels of the well-accepted 1999 V Star Custom. The Classic uses the same 75-degree V-twin engine as the V Star 1100 Custom, a reworked version of the Yamaha Virago V-twin engine that Yamaha has used since the early 1980s. Whereas the Custom has a bobbed rear fender and exposed front forks, the Classic has longer front and rear fenders, floorboards, fork covers and larger tires. Fortunately, the design of the V-twin engine makes a do-it-yourself oil change a fairly easy project. Run the engine for three to four minutes. Turn the engine off. Move the drip pan underneath the oil drain bolt. Remove the oil filler cap from the lower left side of the engine. Using the socket wrench, remove the drain bolt located below the oil filler cap. Allow a few minutes for all of the oil to drip from the engine. Wipe the oil drain plug with a rag and replace it, tightening it to the specified torque of 31 foot pounds. Insert
