Paying a shop to change the oil in your V-Star motorcycle is a waste of time and money. Doing the process yourself is much more simple than you would expect, and in most cases requires less time than taking your bike into a shop and waiting for the job to be done. Yamaha recommends changing the oil on your V-Star at least every 6 months, so you can save money regularly. Warm up the motorcycle by taking it for a quick ride. If the oil is cool or cold, it won’t run out freely. You can make sure the bike is warm enough by placing your hand on the motor and feeling warmth. Pull up the motorcycle on an oil change stand, or prop up the bike so that it stands as vertically as possible. Slide your oil pan under the motorcycle and remove the black filler cap.
