Mandrake is a version of the Mandriva Linux operating system software that is freely available to download and use. When you install it on your computer, it sets up a default host name that serves as the computer’s name on the network. You can change this name to something else, if you wish, by modifying a setting in the operating system. Log into your Mandrake Linux operating system. Open the Mandrake Control Center on the program menu. Click on “Network and Internet” and then open the “DrakConnect” section. Modify the “Hostname” setting to be what you want it to be. Close the Control Center and restart the computer. The hostname setting is changed when the computer reboots.
