How Do You Change The Headlight Bulbs On A Cougar?

0

Check the headlight bulbs on your Mercury Cougar every six months to make sure they are functioning properly. There is no set service life for headlight bulbs; but when they blow out, replace them immediate, as it is illegal to drive at night with a blown bulb. You can find replacement bulbs for the Cougar at most auto parts stores or at the dealership. You’ll need the part number stamped on the old bulb as a reference to find a working replacement. Open the hood and remove the electrical plug from the back of the bulb ballast. Turn the bulb counterclockwise to unlock it from the housing. Then slide the bulb out of the housing. Insert the new bulb. Line up the tabs on the bulb’s base with the notches in the headlight housing. Turn the bulb clockwise to lock it into the housing. Reconnect the electrical connector to the back of the bulb ballast.
