If one of the headlights on your VW Beetle burn out, it will dramatically reduce your nighttime visibility. At that point, you need to replace the headlight. Since it’s not obvious from looking at it, and the headlight housing is not held in place with the usual bolts or screws found on many headlight housings, you’ll need to know the correct procedure for doing this. Replacement headlights for your Beetle can be purchased from most auto parts stores. The Beetle uses 9004 style headlights. Open the hood of your Beetle and push down on the knob located between the fender and the headlight housing. Pull up on the knob as far as you can. This will unlock the headlight assembly from the chassis. Slide the headlight assembly forward. Unplug the electrical connector from the back of the headlight.
