How Do You Change Shotgun Choke Tubes?
A shotgun choke tube is a device used by hunters and skeet/trap shooters to control the spread of the shot fired from the gun. It is a small device that screws into the end of the barrel and makes the opening smaller–i.e. choking it. Thus, if a certain hunting or shooting situation requires a tighter or more open pattern, it can be easily adapted to. Examples of different chokes include open, modified, full and cylinder. It is easy to change out one choke tube for another. Step 1 Make sure the gun is not loaded. This is the most important thing. Safety first. Step 2 Use a Choke Tube Wrench to remove the old shotgun choke tube. Turn the wrench counterclockwise, unscrew and remove the old choke tube. Do this slowly, as turning the tube quickly may affect the threads of the barrel, and cause you a trip to a gunsmith to rethread the barrel. Step 3 Wipe out the barrel with a dry towel or rag. Remove all of the debris or metal shavings (especially from the now-exposed threads) that may have
