After about three to four years, the individual grains of sand have become worn and rounded and can no longer trap particles as they once did on their sharp corners. The only alternative available is to replace the old filter media with new. You will notice an immediate difference in the look of your water. Then remove both parts of the clamp. Loosen all hose clamps attached to the filter canister and remove the canister end of the hoses. Lift the multi-port valve off the filter tank exposing the sand bed. Unscr
