Many countries support different broadcast systems. The 2 major broadcast formats are NTSC and PAL. NTSC is a video broadcast encoding format used chiefly in the United States while PAL is used mainly in Europe, Africa and Asia. NTSC supports resolutions of 720 by 480 while PAL supports resolutions of 720 by 576. For PAL-formatted DVDs to work on an NTSC system, they have to be converted to NTSC format. This process allows the DVDs to work on Region 1 DVD players Step 1 Download VLC Media Player (see link in Resources). Follow the set-up instructions to install it.
