How Do You Change Oil In An Ecotec Engine?
Changing your car or truck’s oil is arguably the most important regular maintenance task you can perform. Clean oil is pivotal in keeping the moving parts in your engine from creating too much friction and, in turn, overheating or becoming damaged. Changing the oil on most cars is done in a similar way, but due to some key differences in the Ecotec engine, Ecotec oil changes require a slightly different procedure. Place a heavy object such as stoppers or bricks directly behind the back wheels of your car or truck to keep it from rolling backward. Lift the front end of the car or truck with a jack, then secure it in place by putting jack stands under each side. Place the used oil container underneath the oil pan, then open the drain plug and wait five minutes or until all the oil has drained out. Remove the oil filter by unscrewing it from the engine block.
