Glow plugs are used on 6.2L Chevy diesel engines because the compression of the diesel inside the engines is what causes the internal combustion of fuel. The glow plug is necessary to ensure that the fuel is warm enough for combustion, as cold diesel fuel will not ignite. Replace your Chevy’s glow plugs every 30,000 miles so that your engine continues to run smoothly. Remove one of the glow plug wires from the top of the engine, starting from the right side of the engine. There are two banks of engine cylinders. It does not matter which exact plug you start with, but make sure that you are only working on one plug at a time.
