How you reset the codes on a Genie garage door opener depends on the model you have purchased. Newer models change the code automatically, while some require you to program the transmitter as well as the opener itself. Remove the cover on your transmitter using the small screwdriver. If there are small numbered switches inside, proceed to step 2. If not, skip to step 4. Your device will have either 9 or 12 switches, as will your opener. (Models are not interchangeable.) Set the switches in the transmitter by moving the switches to either the on or off position. Remove the cover to your opener and set the small switches in the opener to match the ones you set in the transmitter. Your unit is now programed and ready for use.
