Brembo brake pads are manufactured by Brembo — of course — and are known for their quality and longevity over other brand-name pads. Brake pads are friction parts, meaning that by the nature of their use, they will always wear out over time. The pad itself sits in a caliper, which is a device that is designed to force the pad against a rotor that turns with the vehicle’s wheels. When the pad is forced against the rotor, the vehicle slows down. When your Brembo pads get to be 1/8″ thick, it’s time to change them. Put your vehicle in first gear or, if it is an automatic, leave it in park. In both cases, engage the emergency brake. Place the socket end of the tire wrench over the driver’s side lug nut and turn counterclockwise 1/8 degree. Place the floor jack under the front jack point.
