The Compaq Presario 2275 is a rather unusual system by today’s standards. At the time of its build, there had been no standardization as to how to enter BIOS, otherwise known as CMOS or Setup. To complicate matters, while many computer manufacturers were displaying a message during the boot-up sequence that stated which key would provide access to setup, Compaq opted for its logo to be displayed instead. Enter BIOS by repeatedly pressing the “F10” key after powering on the system, pressing the key once about every half a second beginning when you hear the system “POST” beep. As this is an old system with the typically installed CPU a 333-Mhz and the maximum CPU speed a 450-Mhz processor, this process could take two to three minutes.
