Consult your vehicle owner’s manual to confirm the recommended transmission maintenance schedule. The following covers Mitsubishi Eclipse models from 1990 through 1994 with 2.0L Non Turbo Engines. Raise and support the Eclipse with jack stands. Place a drain pan with a large opening beneath the transmission fluid pan. Use a socket wrench to loosen the fluid pan retaining bolts. Tap the pan at one corner with a rubber hammer to break the seal. This will allow the fluid to drain from the pan. When the fluid finishes draining, remove the pan from the transmission. Remove all traces of the old gasket, clean the gasket mating surfaces with a safe solvent and set the pan aside to air dry. Remove the old filter and O ring from the valve body and replace them with new ones. Apply Loctite 18718 or its equivalent to the transmission fluid pan flange and reinstall the pan with a new ga
