Mitsubishi recommends the use of Mopar ATF Plus Type 7176, Diamond ATF SPII or their equivalent in these models. Raise and support the Eclipse with jack stands. Place a drain pan with a large opening beneath the transmission fluid pan. Use a socket wrench to loosen the fluid pan retaining bolts. Tap the pan at one corner with a rubber hammer to break the seal. This will allow the fluid to drain from the pan. When the fluid finishes draining, remove the pan from the transmission. Remove all traces of the old gasket, clean the gasket mating surfaces with a safe solvent and set the pan aside to air dry.
