How Do You Change An Oil Filter On A 1997 Honda Odyssey Van?

0

Generally, an oil filter gets changed along with the oil as part of scheduled maintenance; but if the filter becomes damaged or is leaking, you may need to replace it in between oil changes. It is not a difficult task, and by doing it yourself, you save yourself the hassle and expense of having a repair shop replace it for you. Raise the front end of the Odyssey with a floor jack and set the frame on jack stands. Slide under the front end of the vehicle. The filter in your 1997 Odyssey is a short cylinder near the oil pump on the underside near the front of the engine. Wipe the oil filter with a paper towel to remove any grease on the outside of the casing. Put on gloves and spread out newspaper in the workspace. Slide a catch pan underneath the filter. Loosen and remove the oil filter by turning it counterclockwise. You may be able to twist it off with your hand; but if not, you may need to use an oil filter wrench to loosen it. Place the old filter upside-down in the catch pan. Wipe
