The baseband of an iPhone 3G manages everything that uses the device’s built-in antenna. The baseband information varies depending on the version of the iPhone 3G. If you want to change the baseband of the Apple phone you need to update the product information on your phone. To do so, you only need to connect the phone to a computer. Plug the USB cable into the USB port on the bottom of the iPhone 3G. Connect the other end of the cable into any USB port on your computer. iTunes launches momentarily. Select your iPhone 3G from under “My Devices” on the left side of the screen. Click the “iTunes” tab in the top left corner of the screen, followed by “Check for Updates.” iTunes connects to the Apple site (without opening an Internet window) and searches for updates for your iPhone. Select “Download and Install” when shown the updates. The update now downloads to iTunes and installs onto your iPhone 3G, changing the baseband of the phone.
