How Do You Change A Projector Lamp?

Projector Lamp installation is as easy as 1-2-3….

Most people throw their hands in the air when a projector stops working. There is a misconception that an electrical engineer or an IT specialist needs to save the day! Don’t be fooled – anyone (and I mean anyone!) can change a lamp.

The only tool required is a Philips head screw driver.

Most lamps will come with easy-to-follow instructions. But if you can’t seem to locate your manual, just follow my steps below:

1. Locate the panel on the projector, that is held in place by a screw. Loosen this screw and remove the panel.

2. The lamp is held in place by two (or three anchoring screws). Untighten these screws and pull on the plastic or metal handle to remove the defective lamp.

3. Push the new lamp into the projector (the same way you pulled the old one out) and tighten the anchoring screws, replace the panel, and tighten the final screw.

Voila! Easy as 1-2-3!!

NB: There are a ton of informative and instructional videos on YouTube.com and on this trustworthy website: www.myprojectorlamps.com (these guys have been in business for a long time, helping thousands of customers with projector lamp installation).

There are a few things that you should know to ensure that you not only change your bulb properly, but that it is done at the right time to avoid injury or damage to your projector. When to change the projector lamp Sometimes, you will know when to change the bulb because one day you will switch on the projector and it will not work. There are a number of environmental factors that can shorten the life of a projector lamp because the bulbs are delicate objects. Factors such as letting the bulb cool before moving the projector, not cleaning the filter or even storing the projector lamp in a cold or warm place can all shorten its expected lamp life. However, assuming this is not the case, you should see a message appear on the projector stating something along the lines of ‘Lamp Life Exceeded’. When this message appears, you should replace the bulb. It is an important point that you should not exceed the lamp life by more than 20 percent. Older bulbs become very fragile and this is usual
