How Do You Change A Motor Coupler In A Whirlpool Washer?
Direct drive Whirlpool washers use a motor coupler rather than a drive belt to rotate the tub. After years of use, the coupler will become worn and start slipping. When this happens, the agitator will not function properly and water may not drain completely. When you know how to change a motor coupler in a Whirlpool washer, you can resolve this problem quickly. Motor couplers are available at appliance repair centers. Unplug the power cord of the Whirlpool washer from the wall outlet. Move the washer away from the wall two feet to allow room to place the control console back into a service position. Use a Phillips-head screwdriver to remove the screws on each end of the front control console that secure it to the top panel. Grab the ends of the control console, and flip the console back toward the wall. This will place the control console in the service position. Use a flathead screwdriver inserted in the brass cabinet mounting clips in the top corner of the washer to remove the clips.
