You should see a pipe going into it. On top on the pipe is a connecting ring. On top of that is your basket strainer. Fill the sink with water. Hold a tissue onto the basket strainer, under the sink. If the tissue becomes wet, your basket strainer is leaking. Drain the water from the sink.
