The 2000 Grand Am uses composite headlights, which only require a bulb change when the light burns out. Changing the bulb in a 2000 Grand Am does not require any special tools or the assistance of a mechanic; owners can save money by replacing the bulb themselves. Open the hood of the Grand Am and remove the splash guard by detaching the latches and pulling up on it. The splash guard is located in the front of the engine compartment, over the headlights. Pull up on the retaining clips around the headlight assembly. The clips are located on the left and right side of the headlight assembly and are used to secure it within the compartment.
