Disconnect the power to the dryer by either unplugging from the wall or by the circuit breaker. Once you have disconnected the dryer, slide the dryer away from the wall so that you can comfortably get behind it. Remove the 10 sheet metal screws from the back access panel. Use the 5/16″ nut driver to remove the screws. Put the screws in a safe place so you can easily get to them when you reattach them. Slide the back panel down the power cord so that it will not be in the way. Move the idler pulley from the belt. This will remove the tension on the belt.
