How Do You Change A Ford Air Conditioning Compressor?
Air conditioning compressors in Ford vehicles supply the air forced air that helps cool the cockpit of the vehicle down when the compressor is engaged. Over time the air conditioning compressor may wear out and need to replaced. Replacing a Ford air compressor is not that difficult and can be done by a home mechanic. Get the system evacuated of refrigerant by an automotive air-conditioning repair shop. Use box end wrenches to disconnect the negative battery cable terminal from the battery. Disconnect the wiring harness connector from the compressor with the pliers. Remove the drive belt from the compressor pulley by removing tension from the pulley with a breaker bar. Disconnect the refrigerant lines from the compressor with the box-end wrenches and remove the bolts from the compressor clutch mounting bracket. Lift the compressor out of the vehicle.
