How Do You Change A DAT Extension File To GIF?

0

The DAT file is an extension used by many programs to store simple data. Unless you know which program created the DAT file, it is difficult to open these files. A more universally accepted file extension is GIF. By renaming the DAT file to GIF, you can easily view, edit and manipulate these files. Open the Start menu from your desktop, and then select “Computer.” Navigate to “Folder Options.” (Select “File” or “Organize” on Windows Vista from the top menu). Select the “View” tab. Unselect the box next to “Hide extensions for known file types.” Click “Apply” and then “OK.” Search for the .DAT file that you would like to change. Right-click the file, and select “Rename.” Delete the file extension .DAT, and change it to .GIF.
