You should change your Chevrolet’s fuel filter every 30,000 miles, or every two years, whichever comes first. In most Chevys, the fuel filter is mounted outside the fuel tank, so you won’t have to worry about disconnecting the tank like you do with other vehicles. Use extreme caution when working on the fuel system; make sure there is no pressure built up in the system before you begin. Place shop towels around the fuel line fittings to help absorb any residual fuel that may come out when you disconnect the fittings. Open the gas cap on your Chevy. Locate and remove the fuel pump relay from the fuse box. Turn your ignition key to start the engine, and let the vehicle run until it stalls. Then crank it for an additional 5 to 10 seconds.
