While some people still patch punctured inner tubes, the days of the patch kit are numbered. By installing a new tube, you take a more reliable route to remedying a flat bicycle tire. As long as you avoid another puncture, using a new tube is a long-lasting, cost-effective way to get back on the road after a flat. Completely deflate your flat tire. If you have a Schrader valve (the car-tire style), press your fingernail or the tip of a pen inside of it to release any remaining air.
