How Do You Change A Ballast In A Fluorescent Light Fixture?
The fluorescent lights in your home depend on ballast to maintain a constant flow of current through the light fixture. When the ballast stops working correctly, the bulbs of the fluorescent light fixture will burn out prematurely, or will stop giving off light. When replacing the ballast, you need to be careful not to puncture the ballast housing or touch any liquid coolant released from the ballast, as it contains toxic chemicals. Turn off the breaker supplying power to the fluorescent light fixture. Set up the stepladder to allow safe access to the fluorescent light fixture. Position the ladder so that you do not have to overreach to access the fixture, as this could cause the ladder to tip over while you are performing the repair. Put on your safety glasses. Carefully remove the acrylic cover that protects the fluorescent light fixture. Twist the fluorescent lightbulb counterclockwise to remove it from the light fixture. Cut the wires leading from the ballast to the tombstone style
