Catching Redfish in Florida requires some skill and knowledge. You need to know where you can find the Redfish and what bait to use. When you do find a school of Redfish you can be in for some of the best fishing you have ever had. Find a shallow area in a lagoon, bay or near the coast. That is where Redfish like to feed. Fish this lagoon or bay during high tide when there is plenty of light. Use your Lowrance to find out when the high tide and sunrise in to make it easy to locate Redfish in Florida. Quietly troll the area looking for “tailing” Redfish. These are Redfish that are searching for food, and their dorsal fins are creasing the top of the water. Approach the fish very quietly until you are within casting distance. Then cast just slightly off to the side of the school of Redfish. Draw your bait or lure towards the school of Redfish slowly, enticing one of the Redfish to strike. When it does, hook the fish solidly and then set your drag for the fight.
