Remove the fruit if that is where the flies are, or take out the trash. Whatever the source of the attraction, remove it from your home. You can make several types of traps to catch the fruit flies with apple-cider vinegar. One way is the bowl trap. Put a bowl on the counter and fill it with a little apple-cider vinegar. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap. Make sure it is tight across the top. Poke several small holes in the top of the plastic wrap.
