How Do You Care For Wood & Engineered Wood Floors?
Traditional hardwood floorboards are made from one solid piece of wood, while engineered wood floorboards are made from several layers of plywood, with a thin top layer of traditional wood, like maple or oak. While traditional and engineered wood floors differ in price and durability, both require the same regular care and maintenance. Regularly cleaning your wood floors and protecting them with a few simple safeguards will keep the wood looking new, and prevent any damage to the finish or the floorboard beneath it. Sweep or vacuum your floors regularly to remove any sand or grit that could scratch the finish. Use a soft brush attachment on your vacuum, or choose a soft broom. Clean your floors occasionally using a commercial cleaner intended for wood floors, or a homemade solution of ½ cup white vinegar to 1 gallon of water.
