How Do You Care For Winter Wear?
Snow and ice bring a whole new element to clothing care. Winter clothing is often drenched and must be stored properly to keep mold from forming in your home. By taking a few extra precautions, you can care for winter wear and increase the lifespan of expensive outerwear for many years. Hang wet clothing in a warm location with good air flow. A coat closet doesn’t allow outerwear to completely dry in the winter. Perpetually wet clothing is uncomfortable to wear. It also encourages the growth of mildew and mold in your closet and on rarely used items hanging nearby. If you must use the coat closet to hang up wet outerwear, leave the door open and leave as much space between hangers as you can. Place wet boots upside down on a shoe rack if possible.
