How Do You Care For Seasoned Cast Iron Skillet?
A seasoned cast iron skillet will be a pleasure to cook with for years if cared for properly. Seasoned cast iron is nonstick, retains heat, and can be used for both baking and stove top cooking. The steps below will help you keep your seasoned cast iron skillet in great shape. After each use wash your cast iron cookware with soap and water and dry quickly. Never soak or aggressively scrub your seasoned cast iron skillet or you will remove the nonstick layer. If you find it necessary to do so then re-season your skillet. After your seasoned cast iron skillet has been dried, place it on a burner and heat. Place a teaspoon of oil in the skillet. Using tongs, use a paper towel to rub the oil over the entire interior. You want a thin coating, remove any excess. Cool your seasoned cast iron skillet and store.
