Frieze carpet is a common carpet that is used in homes and high traffic areas because its pile conceals more dirt than most other carpets with a shorter pile. The pile itself is made out of twisted fibers that create a slightly shaggy look. Properly taking care of frieze carpet requires the owner to both vacuum and shampoo the carpet on a regular basis to keep it in tip top shape. Set your vacuum at the right height for your frieze’s pile. It is most effective to use a vacuum that has a beater brush on the regular or medium high setting. This will ensure that you get both the surface dirt and the dirt that lies below the pile. Run the vacuum over each spot three or four times. Use a carpet rake to rake the carpet in straight lines to remove the vacuum marks and loosen dirt that the vacuum didn’t catch the first time.
