How Do You Care For Fire-Bellied Newts?
Fire-Bellied newts are a fairly easy pet to take care of. Here are the basic steps to take of your new pet. The first thing you are going to want to do is set up your tank. You will want a decent size tank, about 10 gallons. You can now dump your gravel or rocks in. You want a smooth gravel, nothing that is going to be rough on their bellies. Next you will want some kind of platform, for them to crawl onto, to get out of the water. Newts are air breathers. They need water and air, so you need to have something for them to get out of the water on. It could be a large rock or a log, or a floating piece of wood. They also like places to hide so a hollow log or something with an overhang is good too. Next you can add your water. You will want a good 3 or 4 inches of water for them to swim in.
