Eucalyptus wood is a sturdy wood that is native to Australia. Eucalyptus wood has not been used as prevalently in the United States as in Australia, but it is an effective alternative to teak and other hardwoods. It is resistant to water, disease and insects, which makes it ideal for use as patio furniture. It does require some care, however, to stay in excellent condition. Place a waterproof protective furniture cover over the eucalyptus wood furniture when not in use. Although eucalyptus is moisture-resistant, all wood eventually is ruined by moisture, so cover the furniture when it’s not in use.
